If you tow a trailer exceeding 750 kgs behind a D1 vehicle the combination comes under the DI+E licence category.
The exemptions allowed for D1 vehicles do not apply to D1+E - if you do not have D1+E on your licence you must not tow a trailer with a maximum permitted weight exceeding 750 kgs behind a minibus or similar vehicle such as a 10-12 seater Landrover County because you will be unlicenced and uninsured.
A full PCV D1 licence is required before training can start on a PCV D +E vehicle.
